Two More Moxie Fab Projects

This is actually the final card I made for the Moxie Fab World Color Inspiration challenges. The challenge is the Pretty Pastels Challenge, and as much as I love the colors, it is the one I had the most trouble with! I used Rose Red, Lavender Lace, Pale Plum and Pink Pirouette.

The stamps are from Vintage Vogue, and I did the rock and roll technique with lavender and plum when stamping the flowers. They are then cute out and applied with pewter brads. The butterflies are from the SU! Sizzlit die and the panel is embossed with the Sizzix folder from SU! I used the side that was debossed, because I liked the change of texture. The rhinestones are from my stash. I based the layout on the CPS sketch 203.

Let me say I am aware that I broke the Rule of Three by using 4 of the butterflies and flowers, but I still like it!

The card below is for the Jewel Tones Color Challenge from Moxie Fab World. I used Elegant Eggplant, Crushed Curry, Taken with Teal and Sahara Sand card stock. The star is punched with the SU! Extra Large Star punch, and I forget the name of the stamp set. The panels are embossed with the Cuttlebug star folder.

Here's a close up to show the ruffled ribbon and the punched star. The ribbon is dotted grosgrain in Crushed Curry. I colored in the words on the star with a yellow Spica pen.

Trying for Moxie Fab-ness

Have you been playing along in the Moxie Fab World Color Inspiration challenges? I've been trying to do my best, and it's hard work! The competition is amazing out there! The card above is for the Monochromatic challenge. My dark pink might be too bright, though. What do you think? Stamps are MFT, and so is the rick rack die. I had the flower in my stash and the tag is from a set of Cuttlebug dies. The image is paper pieced with flower dp from SU! and dotted paper from my pile.

The next card is for the Neutrals challenge, and the color combo made me want to make a masculine card. I have a few masculine birthday cards to make in the next few days and we just found out that our old neighbor had heart surgery last week, so there's a get well card on the list, too! I embossed the blue layer (Buckaroo Blue) with the Distressed Stripes Cuttlebug folder, then distressed the edges. The image panels are also distressed around the edges, and inked with Buckaroo Blue. Image is from Lovely As A Tree (in case you didn't recognize it!). I LOVE that set so much! The tag is from Technique Tuesday, and is inked with Sahara Sand. Sentiment is CHF. I ran the twine across the edge of the ink pad to give it some color, too.

I hope you are having a good weekend. Justin was playing his DS when we got up this morning, so I asked him what time he got up and started playing. He said 3am. I seriously hope he read the clock wrong, although based on his behavior right now, it sounds about right. He gets stubbornness from both of us and we have quite a time when he gets cranky. Ah, the fun of parenting sometimes!

Be My Valentine, Color Challenge Style

The SCS color challenge this week was Soft Suede, Red Riding Hood and Elegant Eggplant. Turns out I have a partial pack of Eggplant and a new pack of Red Riding Hood in my stash of papers. I put this together rather quickly this morning, and I have other ideas for this combo rolling around my brain.

The dessert option for the color challenge was to use nesties or die cuts in a new way. I simply cut a Classic Scallop Circle and a slightly smaller Inverted Scallop Circle and layered them. I think I need to pierce or put bling in the little spaces it created, though.

That's about all I have for you today. DH has been out of town since Saturday morning, so I'm wiped out by the time the kids are in bed and I get the kitchen cleaned up. At least Carter has been taking good naps and I have a little break in the day. We've also been heading to the gym at least 5 mornings a week. Gotta keep busy. If only he would play quietly while I craft, instead of pulling out all my ribbons and whatever else he can reach!

This was my first attempt at this week's Monday Lunchtime Sketch, but I'm still not sure if I love it. I think the black is too much and the color doesn't show enough on the butterfly's wings. I tried to ink the embossed dots with pale blue chalk ink, but you can only see it close up. I also opted not to use the big bow on the bottom strip, and wish the ribbon was lighter. Oh, well, that's why I tackled the sketch again, this time flipping it onto its side. The second card uses today's Color Challenge at SCS as well.



Here's a close up of the detail in the image. I added Stickles to Cosmo's party hat, and pieced it in pink. The lolly is also embossed with Dazzle Versamark and clear EP on Real Red cs. The spots on Cosmo's shell have some glitter on them.



This card was fun to make, although I was stumped for a while about the red. I think it works though, with the felt flower border. In the centers of the flowers are small pink Bella Dots that I got forever ago. Can you tell I'm really starting to dig through my stash to use some stuff up? It will take me years! BUT, I got a new desk chair and can sit longer at my craft desk now! My old chair made my back hurt no matter how long I sat in it. I only wish they made cutely upholstered chairs!

Trying To Clean Off My Desk

Instead of trying to put everything neatly away and cutting into the short amount of craft time I have, I decided to make another card with the supplies already out on my desk this week. These papers are from the SCS Tuesday Color Challenge. I used the same stamp set, too. The dp is made by me using Vintage Vogue, one of my new favorite stamp sets. Colors are Cameo Coral, Blush Blossom, Creamy Caramel and Ruby Red. The flowers is clear embossed and cut out. The sentiment is from MFT.

Credit for the layout goes to Mary Jo, who posts her Monday Lunchtime Sketch each week. We are up to 117 and they just keep getting better!

DH is actually home for a couple days, so we are hanging out this weekend. Justin and I will be going on a date tomorrow morning and then we'll have some family time. Maybe I'll get more time to craft and post, but if not, have a great weekend! Thanks for looking!

Color Challenge Friends Card

This is the most I have stamped in a long time. I mean actually putting the ink to the rubber - many of the cards I've made in the last week or so have included assembling elements like die cuts. The Color Challenge on SCS today was Cameo Coral, Ruby Red, Blush Blossom and an option of Creamy Caramel or Close to Cocoa. I chose to add the Creamy Caramel and layered it all on top of Very Vanilla. The floral layer was created by stamping the flowers from Vintage Vogue onto the Blush cs since I didn't have any dp in the right colors. The F is stamped in Cameo Coral on Blush Blossom and so is the sentiment. I stamped the small flower in Ruby Red and cut it out twice to add some dimension.

I had Carter to the doctor this morning for his re-check after being sick, and he still has some crackling in his lungs. That means another week on the nebulizer, which in turn means another week of cruddy sleep. I think I want a nanny just so I can go take a nap and hand him off when he is cranky! He's also been VERY hungry lately and to top it off, I think his teeth are finally going to come in. Fun fun fun!

Orchid Thoughts

You can tell a day that Carter naps well, because I not only get to create a card, but I get to blog about it, too! He is due to wake up any minute, so this will be quick. This card is for the SCS Color Challenge and also for the Monday Lunchtime Sketch. I love these colors together and got to play with my new Extra Large Flower Punch from SU! I embossed the Razzleberry and Vanilla panels, and the large layer of the flower with the Swirl folder and the Cuttlebug. The leaves are actually cut with another Cuttlebug die and are in Basic Grey Perhaps paper.

The Old Olive layer of dp is from the SU! SAB Welcome Friends paper pad. Love that paper!! I wish SU! had a sampler pack of In Color dsp, though. I know they sell each color separately with the Patterns packs, but a sampler would be nice, don't you think? Any demos reading with some influence?

The ribbon is Rich Razzleberry dotted grosgrain and the button is from my stash. Sentiment is from the SAB Whimsical Words set (yes, I got a ton of SAB stuff :)).

Spring Tulips

Today's Color Challenge at SCS included my absolute favorite, Certainly Celery, combined with Melon Mambo and Bashful Blue. I had one last sheet of Delicate Dots dp from last year's Sale-a-Bration and used part of it to make the mat. That will be the first paper pack that I have used every bit of when this last sheet is gone. I may make a few more of this card to use it up. I love this stamp, an old one from PSX. I think it was one of my first stamp purchases and it just makes me happy. Usually, I color the tulips different colors, but today they are all Melon Mambo and they make me smile.

The ribbon is Melon Mambo also and the base is Certainly Celery. I left off a sentiment so that the focus is on the flowers. Have a great day and thanks for looking!

Sunshine Inspired

This week's CPS sketch was a fun one, and I combined it with the SCS Color Combination from yesterday. The Color Combo was Creamy Caramel, Apricot Appeal, Tempting Turquoise and Baja Breeze.

The stamps are all from By the Seashore by MFT. The base card is Tempting Turquoise and the dp are from my stash, so I don't have the details. The image layers are Baja Breeze and Apricot Appeal. The image is stamped in Creamy Caramel and paper pieced and colored with Bic markers. Those MFT stamps are too much fun to paper piece!! The sentiment is stamped in TT and the small sun image is cut from the dp and I added a bauble to the center.

I think this card has the most layers of all the cards I have made to date. I like it, even though it will definitely take extra postage! Well, my morning time is up and it's time to pick up DS from camp. He's going from 9-12 four days a week and is having a blast so far. Today is a gorgeous day outside, so I'm sure we'll be in the pool after lunch. I hope you are all enjoying some sunshine as well. Thanks for looking!

Anniversary Hearts CC225

Looking ahead in my calendar, I saw that the wedding anniversary of DH's father and step-mother is next week. I used Splitcoast Stampers CC225 as an inspiration. It is hard to see the saffron panels - it says "love" in the lower right corner, but it shows up on the navy panel. The DP is from the BG Boxer pad. The sentiment in the frame is MFT. Hardware is from We R Memory Keepers.

I'm keeping it short and sweet today. It's hot and I'm sleepy this afternoon. We'll see if DS will read some books or play while I catch a nap. Have a good one, everyone! Thanks for looking!

Lovely Holiday Wishes

Today's color challenge at SCS is Real Red, Basic Black, Old Olive and either white or vanilla as a neutral. Since I spent some time yesterday tidying up my craft room and rearranging, this morning it was ready for me to create. It was quite messy and now it's nice and clean. I even took a bookcase from upstairs and snuck it into my space. Now I have more things in reach of my chair.

I used the swiss dots Cuttlebug folder for the black layer, and stamped the image from Lovely As A Tree in Old Olive. I also inked the edges of the vanilla layer with OO. The sentiment is from Verve and I cut the circles with my Nestabilities. Since this is relatively flat and simple, I may be using it for my holiday card design this year. Imagine if I had all my holiday cards done by July! Yikes, then I could work on baby announcements :)

A Bright One Just Because

I made this card for an SCS color challenge a while ago, and realized that I never posted it here. I used CHF Nature Silhouettes and a punched butterfly that I colored with my glitter pen. The base layer is Cuttlebugged and the rick rack is from my stash.



I'm off to pick up DS early so we can go buy him some soccer cleats. He starts this Saturday and I'm hoping it goes better than the indoor soccer we tried in the winter! He was overwhelmed and just cried the few times we tried the indoor games, but this is an instructional league and outside, so our fingers are crossed!

Hmmmmm...Not So Sure...

...About this card. I used the color combination from today at SCS, and the sketch from TechnoStamper. On paper, this card was much prettier to me. Perhaps its the background stamp? I tried the faux dry embossing, but it apparently doesn't work on black cardstock. It's the CHF Pretty Pattern backgrounder. The kraft was run through the Swiss Dots folder in the Cuttlebug. Ribbon is from Target's after-Christmas sale last year. Hardware on the flower center is from Queen and Co. Sentiment is All Year Cheer (SU!).

I'm going to leave it at that. Please decide for yourself whether or not to like this card. I'm still unsure, will make another judgement later. Thanks for looking!

I Stink You're Sweet!

Today is the first day I've been able to spend any time in my stamp room. It's only because I picked up DS from preschool and he didn't want dinner, or stories. Just wanted to go to bed. NOT a good sign - he has a slight fever and is complaining that his belly hurts. Of course, DH is out of town and we will probably be having a "home day" tomorrow. I'm just hoping there's no vomiting on the horizon...

My SIL had a Stampin' UP party, and even though I couldn't attend, I did send her an order. I finally got Pun Fun and some cardstock. I was able to cut the stamps and mount them the other night while watching tv. Tonight I put these two quick cards together. The image is stamped in Staz-On and watercolored with the SCS color combo this week. My Lovely Lilac is very dark, and using the watercolor pen turned it almost blue. The skunk's stripe is Certainly Celery, and the flower is Pretty in Pink. Both cards are mounted on Certainly Celery bases, and the dp is CTMH and Making Memories (Stardust Flowers Purple) from YEARS ago. The other layers are scraps I had in my pile.

I try to use the scrap pile for each card I make lately, so I can avoid using full sheets of paper. (I would say so that I won't have to buy more for a long time, but that would be a lie.) I was at the dollar store just today and picked up a few packs of Miss Elizabeth's dp!

Color Challenge 156

I'm home again today - this dizziness is driving me crazy. Went to the doctor finally and he says it's probably the beginning of an ear infection. What fun. So he gave me antibiotics and medicine to stop the dizziness. Let's hope it works!!

But the silver lining is that I was home to tackle the color challenge over at SCS. I have no Wild Wasabi paper, and it was hard to find a replacement, but I like how it turned out. The dp is Marcella K from Target. The green strip has French Script background stamped in Wild Wasabi ink; the image and sentimet are from SU! Friendship Blooms from the SAB catalog. The flowers are primas, and the brads are Target $1 spot. The rhinestones are from Hero Arts.

Just this morning I happened to swing by Target and they had a BUNCH of clearance stuff in the scrapbook aisle. (BTW - Target when you feel like the store is spinning is a trip - not recommended. I think I bought more stuff because I didn't have the presence of mind to think twice!) It must be time for all the new spring stuff, because the aisle was wiped out. But I found this great pad of Marcella K papers, a 7/8" square punch, foam tape, and Fiskars texture plates for cheap! I found out how I can get the Fiskars texture plates to work in the Cuttlebug. Has anyone else tried this?

VeggieBella

On Friday, I received my Bella order. I have been waiting and waiting for them to get here, and they did, just as I was starting to really feel better! I stamped a bunch of them off and have been coloring them bit by bit. Tonight I put together a few cards with VeggieBella. I have only one to post, though, as I am going to hope for sunshine tomorrow for better pictures. Here she is, ready to be entered into Shannon's color challenge. The challenge is to use Tempting Turquoise, Almost Amethyst and Black in a card. The pieces used for this card are close to the end of my stash of this great amethyst color cs. I used a bunch of it at Christmas and got tired of it, now I want more! Bella is colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended, the ribbon is from my stash. I put little snap brads in the corners of the main image panel.
I'm off to make another card or two before I turn into a pumpkin this evening. Tomorrow is a a holiday, so hopefully DS will want to play in my stamp room and I can do some more! Thanks for looking!

Apricot, Light Yellow, Light Blue

That was the challenge color combination from Jana at Jana's Creative Pursuits in Stamping. I think I'm sneaking in just under the wire with this entry, but I only had time to do it last night. I used Polka Dots and Paisley, and Soft Sky, Barely Banana and Apricot Appeal. The base card is Soft Sky cs, but the other papers are not SU! They are from DCWV Mini Stack 3. The ribbon is from my stash and I added Dew Drops to the sentiment panel. I hope you like it as much as I do! This is a fantastic color combination :)

I am also counting this in Barb's Bingo - so hopefully we will have lots of numbers to check off tomorrow! I'll be back at it this week in the evenings, I hope. Although I have been fighting off a tightness in my chest and my ears are feeling like they are plugged up. My window for being sick doesn't open till Friday when DH returns from his business trip, though!

Today was a stamp-less day, since we had a birthday party to attend and DS wanted me to play with him ALL day. We did get some chores done together, though, and he did a super job picking up all his toys and putting all his books away!

Double Duty Challenge Card

I love when I can multitask, and this card lets me do just that. It fits for Angelosity Sketch #14 and also for the SCS Color Challenge 138. The stamp set is Baroque Motifs which I have seen everyone use for beautiful cards. I may CASE some and create my Christmas cards. I guess it's about time to decide on a Christmas card design, huh? It's getting close!

Ribbon on this card is some grosgrain that was in the clearance bin at my local craft store. It's a great rich red. The ink colors I used are the color challenge colors: Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, and So Saffron. Thanks for looking!

Hanna Has Arrived!

Have you ordered your Hanna Stamps yet? What a great set this is! You can get yours here. I love it and I've only just gotten to play with it one time. Here are the details: I used a 5 1/2 square base and followed Beate's weekend sketch #23. Hanna is stamped on a white panel that is sponged lightly with pink to soften it. I paper pieced her dress with Basic Grey's Blush paper, which I also used under the sentiment. I colored the other parts with pencils and blended with OMS. The shoe background on the smaller pink panel is done with the two shoes from the set randomly stamped in Close to Cocoa. The sentiment is also stamped in Close to Cocoa.

I will try to take a better photo tomorrow. I wasn't home in good daylight today. Justin had a checkup this afternoon and we didn't get home till after dark! ETA: Got a new photo. Now you can really see the colors!

Another challenge tackled

Allison is having this great challenge for blog candy over at her blog. You have to create a Black and White Christmas card. The details are here.

I started with a white base, then stamped the scene onto black, using Brilliance Moonlight White. The snowman is from SU! Tags & More, the tree is from SU! Loads of Love, and the snow background is SU! Beyond the Basics. I used a white marker for the snowy hill under the tree. I then cut window panes from a textured white panel and mounted on top of my scene. The sentiment is All-Year Cheer I and outlined with black glitter pen, mounted on rick rack. The snowman's scarf is colored with the black glitter pen, as well as the centers of some of the snow circles. I hope you can see the subtle sparkle! Oh, and I used Rhinestones to add some bling to his buttons!
