Happy Thanksgiving!

We have skipped town for Thanksgiving, and are enjoying a few days in sunny San Diego. Justin doesn't know, but we are headed to Legoland and he will very surprised!! He has become a huge Lego fan this year, and has wanted to go for a while. The best part - his latest Lego catalog contained a coupon for a free child's ticket!

This card is very simple - made from some scraps of ribbon and some rub-ons. The sentiment looks a little crooked to me, but the card is in the mail anyway. I hope you all have a very happy Thanksgiving! I'm happy to not cook, but will miss my day-after-Thanksgiving-sandwich! Thanks for looking!

Tilda bag

This is my entry for the current Embellish Magazine challenge, sponsored by It's In The Bag. The challenge is to use gray, black, dark pink and light pink and to embellish a bag. I started with a plain brown lunch-sack style treat bag, and mounted a black and pink patterned layer on the front. Then, I used the Nesties Labels die to cut a window, that I then put a piece of acetate behind. I stamped Tilda with tights in Versafine and colored her with Bic Mark It pens. After she was all colored, I cut her out and mounted her on the edge of the window, so you can see her around the treats inside. (there are currently no treats inside, because I didn't have anything suitable in the house)

The sentiment is from SU! Yummy, and I stamped it first with Versafine black then used the stamp-a-ma-jig and stamped the word "yummy" in Pixie Pink. The pearls are from Queen & Co. The wide satin gray ribbon is from my stash.

I love how it came out! Thanks for looking!

Love Times 4 - Blog Hopping!

Welcome to the OWH Be My Valentine Bloghop! If you don't know and are just stopping by, OWH stands for Operation Write Home, an organization that passes along homemade cards to our troops overseas so they can keep in touch with family members back home. You can find more information about how it works HERE.

It's hard to believe that we are thinking of Valentine's Day when it's not even Christmas, but the deadline for OWH to receive and send along Christmas cards is long gone. In order to get cards to the troops in time to send back to their loved ones, OWH shippers need Valentine Cards by January 7! Which is not so far away, really.

I had fun making these cards, and with the supplies out, it took no time at all to make the whole set. I used Chocolate Chip as a base, then a layer of Pretty in Pink, topped with a layer of Whisper White. The hearts are punched with the SU! heart punch that goes with the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set. DP is from MFT. The Sentiment is from Elzybells (sadly gone out of business), and is stamped first with Chocolate Chip ink then again slightly offset with Pretty in Pink. To give the sender lots of room for a letter home I adhered white paper to both sides of the inside of the card. This is important if you are using a dark base, because the soldiers don't have all the fancy colored gel pens like we do!

Thanks for stopping by and viewing my Valentine cards. I have TWO challenges to you: First, vote for OWH as the Joann's Craft for a Cause winning charity. You can vote once per day here: http://www.joann.com/CraftForaCause. Second, make a Valentine card (and embrace the white space!) to send along to OWH. Remember the January 7 deadline, but there is a special program going on with Archway Cookies. If OWH receives 4000 cards by December 1, Archway will send cookies to the troops! Make their holidays sweet by helping out.

Have fun as you hop along, and Thanks for looking! Your next stop is:

Diggin' on Damask, Take Two

I realize this is my second post of the day, but I wanted to get this card submitted to the Diggin' On Damask challenge at Moxie Fab World. It's also another entry for the Clean and Simple Stamping FTL115. The stamps are from a Prima set I recently got, and the sentiment is from MFT. The ink is Pacific Point, on Vanilla and mounted all on a Kraft base. Sorry for the poor lighting - the sun is going down too early now!

Time to get the boys to bed. Thanks for looking!

Fall Hello

I made some fall cards that I will be sending out for Thanksgiving. We will be spending Thanksgiving week on vacation on San Diego, visiting the zoo, Legoland and some other fun places. We are not spending it with any family, and since Justin has the whole week off school, we decided to get away and relax a bit. The best part is that Justin has no idea we are going to Legoland and will be thrilled when we pull up to the park!

This card uses some scraps of Crate Paper that I had out and another rimmed tag that I've had forever and am trying to use up. There are only a few left, but they say "lucky" on them, so I guess I'll be making a few St. Patrick's Day cards with them in a few months. I'll be glad when they are all used up! I'm trying what we all do - not buy anything until some of my supplies are gone...

Have a good Monday. Thanks for looking!

Be My Clean and Simple Valentine

I recently discovered the Clean and Simple Stamping blog and don't know why I never found it earlier. I love the weekly sketches and am learning to embrace the white space on my cards! It's hard not to add a little something, but my postage budget especially loves the clean and simple style!

Here, I used the small heart from I {Heart} Hearts and a sentiment from Verve. The U is a sticker that I've had in my stash for a while (a long while). The hearts are stamped in Pretty in Pink, and the sentiment is in Basic Gray. Can you believe that I have almost NO red paper left in my stash, and also that I seem to not have ANY sentiment that says "Happy Valentine's Day"? How did that happen? I guess I'll be adding that to my list of things to get.

Please be sure to stop by next weekend, as I am participating in the Operation Write Home Valentine Blog Hop! You can get details HERE. I know it's early to think of Valentine's Day, but hop along and see everyone's creations!

I hope you are having a good weekend. We finally got chilly here, and I actually turned on the heat yesterday. It was 62 in the house when we got up in the morning, and we gave in. There was actually frost on the grass in the yard and I'm glad I brought in my basil plant so it didn't get frostbitten. Thanks for looking!

CPS 191 x 2

Did you see the CPS sketch this week? Yikes! What a challenge! First, I made this cute little 3x3 card using a new stamp set I got from Prima. I thought the circles looked just like peppermint candies, to I used Stickles to color them in. The "wrappers" are bits of organdy ribbon from my stash. The papers are scraps! The sentiment is from the Pure Innocence set I used in the next card.

This time, I paper pieced the hat and jacket with some MME paper that I also used as the side shapes. This was such a tricky sketch, I wasn't sure how to work with it. But I think this card came out VERY cute and I love it! The base is Cherry Cobbler (my last piece - boo hoo!). I love that new color, and am no out of red card stock. How can that be? Cindy, I'll be emailing you again soon! Good thing my Christmas cards are all completed for this year.

Can you believe it's November already? I cannot. I need to get the Christmas shopping done! Have a good day and thanks for looking!
