Two More Moxie Fab Projects

This is actually the final card I made for the Moxie Fab World Color Inspiration challenges. The challenge is the Pretty Pastels Challenge, and as much as I love the colors, it is the one I had the most trouble with! I used Rose Red, Lavender Lace, Pale Plum and Pink Pirouette.

The stamps are from Vintage Vogue, and I did the rock and roll technique with lavender and plum when stamping the flowers. They are then cute out and applied with pewter brads. The butterflies are from the SU! Sizzlit die and the panel is embossed with the Sizzix folder from SU! I used the side that was debossed, because I liked the change of texture. The rhinestones are from my stash. I based the layout on the CPS sketch 203.

Let me say I am aware that I broke the Rule of Three by using 4 of the butterflies and flowers, but I still like it!

The card below is for the Jewel Tones Color Challenge from Moxie Fab World. I used Elegant Eggplant, Crushed Curry, Taken with Teal and Sahara Sand card stock. The star is punched with the SU! Extra Large Star punch, and I forget the name of the stamp set. The panels are embossed with the Cuttlebug star folder.

Here's a close up to show the ruffled ribbon and the punched star. The ribbon is dotted grosgrain in Crushed Curry. I colored in the words on the star with a yellow Spica pen.

Trying for Moxie Fab-ness

Have you been playing along in the Moxie Fab World Color Inspiration challenges? I've been trying to do my best, and it's hard work! The competition is amazing out there! The card above is for the Monochromatic challenge. My dark pink might be too bright, though. What do you think? Stamps are MFT, and so is the rick rack die. I had the flower in my stash and the tag is from a set of Cuttlebug dies. The image is paper pieced with flower dp from SU! and dotted paper from my pile.

The next card is for the Neutrals challenge, and the color combo made me want to make a masculine card. I have a few masculine birthday cards to make in the next few days and we just found out that our old neighbor had heart surgery last week, so there's a get well card on the list, too! I embossed the blue layer (Buckaroo Blue) with the Distressed Stripes Cuttlebug folder, then distressed the edges. The image panels are also distressed around the edges, and inked with Buckaroo Blue. Image is from Lovely As A Tree (in case you didn't recognize it!). I LOVE that set so much! The tag is from Technique Tuesday, and is inked with Sahara Sand. Sentiment is CHF. I ran the twine across the edge of the ink pad to give it some color, too.

I hope you are having a good weekend. Justin was playing his DS when we got up this morning, so I asked him what time he got up and started playing. He said 3am. I seriously hope he read the clock wrong, although based on his behavior right now, it sounds about right. He gets stubbornness from both of us and we have quite a time when he gets cranky. Ah, the fun of parenting sometimes!

I'm off to try a couple more color challenges. Thanks for looking!

Be My Valentine, Color Challenge Style

The SCS color challenge this week was Soft Suede, Red Riding Hood and Elegant Eggplant. Turns out I have a partial pack of Eggplant and a new pack of Red Riding Hood in my stash of papers. I put this together rather quickly this morning, and I have other ideas for this combo rolling around my brain.

The dessert option for the color challenge was to use nesties or die cuts in a new way. I simply cut a Classic Scallop Circle and a slightly smaller Inverted Scallop Circle and layered them. I think I need to pierce or put bling in the little spaces it created, though.

That's about all I have for you today. DH has been out of town since Saturday morning, so I'm wiped out by the time the kids are in bed and I get the kitchen cleaned up. At least Carter has been taking good naps and I have a little break in the day. We've also been heading to the gym at least 5 mornings a week. Gotta keep busy. If only he would play quietly while I craft, instead of pulling out all my ribbons and whatever else he can reach!

Take 2 of Moxie Fab Challenge

I got the right color combo this time! And, I am SO much happier with this card than the previous one :) I embossed the CHF Pretty Pattern backgrounder with clear EP onto a sheet of SU! gold card stock. It was my ONLY piece of gold, so what a relief that it looked how I wanted it to! I also stamped the same pattern onto the white flowers using Pink Pirouette ink. The pink ruffly ribbon is from my stash and the sentiment is from Verve. The small brads are Sprinkles from Queen & Co.
If you want to try this color combo for yourself, go to the Moxie Fab World Challenges! There are 6 challenges for the Color Inspiration for Card Makers special issue and it's fun to see what everyone comes up with. Thanks for looking!

Moxie Fab Metallics Challenge

I'm so not sure of this card. It's for the Moxie Fab World Color Inspiration Challenge, Metallics. I think I like it, but it doesn't scream "Moxie Fab" to me. I started by dry embossing the dots along the bottom. Then, I embossed the silhouette stamp in gold and silver EP, added some ribbon and brads and sentiment.

Eh, I think I'm going back to the drawing board for this challenge... Thanks for looking!

ETA: When I went back to the challenge posting, I realized I copied down the wrong colors!! They are gold, white and pink. Now I am definitely back to the drawing board tonight :)

Moxie Fab Color Inspiration Challenge 1

Here's my first entry for the Moxie Fab Color Inspiration Challenge, Day One. The colors are the bright bolds: orange, pink, white and black. This card gave me a heck of a time, but I think I'm happy with the finished product. The papers are SU! Peach Parfait and Blushing Bride. The script squares are stamped with the script background stamp from an old SU! set, Botanicals.

The flowers are Primas that have been in a package for at least two years. I brought them out to play with for a swap I'm in on SCS. The ribbon is May Arts silk ribbon, which I ruffled! I love it :) Here are close-ups of the flowers and ribbon.

There are 5 more days and color combos to catch up on, so off I go! Have a good night and Thanks for looking!

Butterfly Birthday Wishes

I made this yesterday, and just got around to editing and posting tonight. What a weekend, and nothing even was going on! The sketch is from Mary Jo at TechnoStamper, Sketch 156. The card came together rather quickly - I had the butterflies, then found the dotted paper that matched just right. The ribbon is two scrap pieces tied together (there wasn't enough for a full bow!). The scalloped strip was even in my scrap pile, and I added some piercing. The sentiment is from SU! Curly Cute. Love those sentiments!

That's it. I hope you had a good weekend! Thanks for looking :)

Lovely Heart

I had the tiles of this stamped image already cut and on my desk, so I decided to put the card together. Otherwise, the pieces would have ended up in some box in my craft room and who knows when I'd ever find them again! I am really really REALLY trying to use up my stuff, and to get themed boxes of supplies together. That way, I can get at least one Christmas card made per week and not have to spend time searching for everything. How do you organize your supplies? By color, theme, holiday, etc?

The colors are Groovy Guava, white and Sahara Sand. I am almost out of Sahara Sand card stock and might need to order more... Here's another question - what white card stock do you use when using it for a card base? I like my card bases to be very sturdy, and I just don't think the SU! Whisper White is heavy enough.

Well, time to play with Carter. We did not go to the gym this morning because I am not feeling 100%, so we have free play time before nap. I hope you are all having a good day, and keeping warm if you are in the snowy regions!

A Few Early Valentines

One of my crafy resolutions this year is to send cards to OWH. I always meant to last year, but would miss deadlines and then just not get to the post office. Lame excuses, I know, when the troops are doing so much for us! The deadline for Valentine cards is Friday, January 7 and I am proud to say that I sent out a small batch of them! Here are a few.

They both use Kraft for a base. The first one is stamped with the French Script backgrounder in Crumb Cake. The hearts are punched from red and pink scraps and the last one on the right is popped up and scribbled with a Spica glitter pen.
This second card is one of my favorites. I used a new Bramble Wreath stamp and added a tiny red bow and some punched hearts. The sentiment is stamped in Real Red and again the base is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder (I think from Love Language?).

Carter is waking up, so I'd better go get him. I'm trying to adjust him to just one nap a day, and it's a tough transition. Now keeping him busy till bedtime is going to be rough. I also started trying to leave him in the child care center at the gym. Let's say the first day didn't go so well. He cried almost the whole 1/2 hour I worked out and yes, that was me they were paging to come and get him. Today I just left him for about 15 minutes and they said he would play if they held him. Luckily there were not many other kids there and they could give him the attention he needed. Let's hope he gets used to it soon!!

Thank You Cards from the Boys

These are the Thank You cards the boys will be sending out for all the goodies they got for Christmas. We also celebrated a birthday (Justin is 7?!?!?!), and had a visit from the tooth fairy this week. It's been busy! Tomorrow Justin returns to school and Carter and I will start frequenting the gym. I just hope he does well in the child care center there!
These are all made with Edwin Ski Clothes by Magnolia Stamps. He's so fun to paper piece. The first card uses some Pacific Point and Kraft, with a little white. I got the color combo from a Panera Bread bag after treating myself. The other two cards use some leftover Merry Days of Christmas paper from MME. I STILL haven't used it all up!
How many of you are back in the race today? DH had to return to work today after a full two weeks off! That means I'm solo with the kids after two weeks of having him home and I haven't even gotten around to making coffee yet.

Techno Valentine!

I got time to participate in Mary Jo's final Techno Stamper Sketch Challenge of the year, and although I don't love my card, here it is. I had this old Valentine paper in my stash, from the Target dollar spot about 2 years ago. It had glittered hearts on it, so I cut a small square of them for the bigger panel. The small heart is a double-sided sticky heart that I've also had rolling around my stash for YEARS, stamped and topped with micro beads. Here is a close-up of the heart:
That's my favorite part of the card! I am trying to get into a new routine this year which will involve more creative time. I also want to read more - I used to read a book a week, and with kids, that number has dwindled. We joined the local gym, and Carter will be able to stay in their child care area while I work out. It's the usual roster of resolutions, although I like to refer to them as goals instead. Somehow it seems easier to work toward a goal than to keep a resolution. What are your goals for the new year? I hope one of them is to continue reading my blog :)
