Celebrate WT216

I decided to participate in some challenges this week, and here is today's. It's the SCS Ways to Use It challenge. This week, the challenge was to use Basic Black. I love how the color pops against a black background. The stamps is from Lexicon of Love and the paper is from a Story of Us pad I picked up a while ago. I don't even remember where I got it, but the papers are gorgeous mixes of black, vanilla, gray and blue. I colored the brads with a black Sharpie, since I only had silver ones. The flowers are from my stash and the ribbon is black silk from May Arts.

Since getting more organized in my craft room this week, I have noticed just how much stuff I have. I'm going to try not to bring anything new into the collection for a while. Hopefully I can whittle down the stuff over the next few months making baby announcements and thank you cards and such. Wish me luck! Thanks for looking!

Lovely Holiday Wishes

Today's color challenge at SCS is Real Red, Basic Black, Old Olive and either white or vanilla as a neutral. Since I spent some time yesterday tidying up my craft room and rearranging, this morning it was ready for me to create. It was quite messy and now it's nice and clean. I even took a bookcase from upstairs and snuck it into my space. Now I have more things in reach of my chair.

I used the swiss dots Cuttlebug folder for the black layer, and stamped the image from Lovely As A Tree in Old Olive. I also inked the edges of the vanilla layer with OO. The sentiment is from Verve and I cut the circles with my Nestabilities. Since this is relatively flat and simple, I may be using it for my holiday card design this year. Imagine if I had all my holiday cards done by July! Yikes, then I could work on baby announcements :)

I'm off to meet some friends for lunch. Hope you are all having a good day. Thanks for looking!

Card for 2nd Birthday Girl

I have just spent the best week with my mom. She works in a school and had April Vacation this week, so she drove down to spend a few days. We are working on a project for a big event coming up, but I'm not able to share what we did just yet. Too bad, because we are VERY pleased with the final products!!

We crafted, shopped, lunched and just caught up with each other without feeling the rush of a usual weekend visit. Thanks, Mom!

Here is a card I made last month for a sweet little girl who turned 2. The image was a RAK and I colored it with Prismacolor pencils, blended with OMS. The "2" is from Tim Holtz Grungeboard, inked and blinged up with Stickles. The paper is from Target. Our weather is promising to be gorgeous this weekend, and we have soccer practice and a birthday party to attend. Isn't it funny how the weekends fill up with plans once the weather gets nicer? We are booked for the next several weekends already. But it's so good to be getting out and catching up with friends after being cooped up all winter. I hope you all have a great weekend. Thanks for looking!

A Bright One Just Because

I made this card for an SCS color challenge a while ago, and realized that I never posted it here. I used CHF Nature Silhouettes and a punched butterfly that I colored with my glitter pen. The base layer is Cuttlebugged and the rick rack is from my stash.

I'm off to pick up DS early so we can go buy him some soccer cleats. He starts this Saturday and I'm hoping it goes better than the indoor soccer we tried in the winter! He was overwhelmed and just cried the few times we tried the indoor games, but this is an instructional league and outside, so our fingers are crossed!

Thanks for looking!

Happy Birthday to Lexi

Monday is our niece's birthday, and I hope this makes it to her on time. She lives across the country from us and I have not been keeping up with the birthday card creation lately. Inspiration struck this morning, though, as I spied my jar of Prima daisies next to these large alphabet brads from Queen & Co. The sentiment is from Studio G and if you can make out the little bug on the leftmost flower, it is from Studio G also. The dp is from Making Memories, yellow layer from Bazzill and the base card is SU!

I am still getting adjusted to being at home. Finally I am feeling better (should be by now at 17 weeks!) and am developing a routine. Unfortunately, that routine includes at least one load of laundry a day and a couple other household chores. I'd rather do a litte bit each day and keep on top of things than spend a marathon day doing everything. How do you all do it?

Well, off to switch that daily laundry and take a lunch break. Hopefully I can get back to my desk later and create more. Tomorrow we are off for the weekend, so I won't be back to it till Monday night. Happy Easter to everyone and thanks for looking!
