A Few RAKS To Share

From Mada in Romania, this is the August JT Aloha RAK club card I received. Mada is a new blogger, but go and check her out. This card is very pretty! She also made a donation to my Avon Walk fundraising. Thank you VERY much, Mada! Next, I received a parcel from Deb in CA. The first time she sent my Aloha RAK for July, it got lost in the mail. So she sent this last week. I love the Halloween stuff, as well as the floral girly stuff. DS is eyeing those spider foam stamps!! Thanks so much, Deb!

This weekend, I did my practice walk - 13 miles long! I'm aiming for 15 miles this weekend, 17 next and adding 2 each weekend until the big event on October 4 and 5. I am happy to say that I have surpassed my fundraising goal!

Perhaps this week will be less hectic at work and I can take some time to stamp. It's killing me not to create something every day! Thanks to my few readers for sticking around.

Speaking of blog candy, Wallflower never claimed her prize from last week, so I am going to send it to Rachel. I drew names again and hers is the one that came out of the cup. Rachel, I have your info from the SBS group, and will get your goodies out to you this week.

Blog Candy Winner!!

This weekend was another one that zipped right by. Started yesterday morning with a phone call - one of my employees was sick and wouldn't be able to work. There went my long to-do list, out the window! I had to go in to at least cover lunches, so my morning walking plans were scratched. In the afternoon, we promised a movie/popcorn date with DS, so we watched Happy Feet. Of course, he was petrified by the lion seal and the nasty birds, so it wasn't as much fun as it sounds.

Today, I had a table outside the local grocery store to raise funds for the Avon 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. People were VERY generous, and I made a large dent in the remaining funds I have to raise. Tonight I got to actually walk. Oh, and in between all this I had about 20 lbs of tomatoes sitting on my counter that needed attention before they took over the house. I still have a chicken to roast, and the day is not over yet. I'm ready for some relaxing, but is it possible to be too tired to stamp??

Little Bits of Happiness, and a Missed Blogaversary (Candy!)

When we went camping in June with my brother and SIL, she gave me this set, A Little Bit of Happiness. I had mentioned to her that I loved it, but it was a hostess only set. Well, she had a huge Stampin Up workshop and earned it. Thing is, she doesn't love it like I do. So she gifted it to me. A little bit of happiness on my part, indeed! Finally, this weekend, I had a chance to play with it. I got out the watercolor paper, watercolor pencils and ended up with this set of four cards. Notice I also played with my new Cuttlebug edging folders - love them :)

I used mostly scraps for these, and precut cards that I had from other projects. They came together very quickly and I think I'll be making more. I like the limited layers and think they would make a nice gift. I always feel badly when I give a pack of cards that require extra postage to send!

This weekend, I missed my Blogaversary!! Can you believe it's been a whole year? I want to extend a thank you to all my readers - it means a lot to me that my creations aren't lost in the ether or simply collecting dust on my shelves. I have met some wonderfully generous people and reconnected with lost friends through this blog.

As a token of thanks, I would like to give some blog candy. Thanks and Blog Candy Winners

Here's a Thank You card I made a few weekends ago. It started out with the sentiment - which is from the Michael's dollar spot. I stamped it in rose red on white, then mounted on red and yellow panels. The ribbon is wide ruffled ribbon from Target at Christmas. The corner adornments are the flower from Polka Dots and Paisley, watercolored and bling-ed up with a red rhinestone. That panel is mounted on green, then blue. The dp is from my stash. The corners of the card also have rhinestones on them.Now, onto the winners of the scrap albums! The baby boy album is going to Stephanie

Scrappin' Blog Candy

ETA: I have extended this until Tuesday, April 29th. I will draw a name at 7:30 pm on that day and post the winner soon after. I do have to say, that due to the size of the albums, I will have to restrict to US/Canada. Sorry for the international readers! I will include you in the next blog candy :)

I have to face it, I don't scrapbook. I stamp, and make different stamping projects, but the idea of going back and scrapping the piles of photos in that box in my closet is just too daunting. It will never be done...


SO, this is lucky for those of you who DO scrap, as I have 2 scrapbooks to give away! The first is not a traditional scrap album, but is very cute. The front feautes a pair of overalls in a hanger, and it says "For Boy." The inside pages are ringbound - 3 rings on on top and 3 on bottom side of the page. But the pages themselves are blank card stock, separated by a sheet of tissue like paper.
The second is a brown leatherette/corduroy covered postbound 12 x 12 album. It contains 20 top loading pages and is acid, lingin, pvc free. You can easily find this type of refill pages, I think. This post will remain on top until tomorrow. Please leave me a comment if you are interested in one of these items. I will keep comments open until tomorrow (Sunday April 27) at noon EST. If there are more than one comment, I will use Random.org or have DS pick a name from a bowl. I will post the lucky recipients name tomorrow evening.

MIA for A Few More Days and Blog Candy

I just want to check in and say I'll be back on Thursday with a post. I'm on a mini-vacation now with DH. YES, our first without DS since he was born 4+ years ago. He is doing fantastically at his grandparents' house. We are having fun in Vegas.

Since I'm in Vegas, I thought I would post a little blog candy contest. I have had some luck in this department over the last few days, so it's time to share the wealth...

Ha ha! Doesn't that impatience always seem to get us! My favorite book of all time has to a tie... Not My Will (by Fancena Arnold) and good old War and Peace (by Tolstoy). If I had to choose between the two, it'd be War and Peace. Long, but worth the reading!

Does Someone Want the Feb Issue of Papercrafts?

My MIL bought a subscription to Papercrafts for me for Christmas. I've been waiting for my first issue to arrive, but it hadn't, and I'm impatient so I bought a copy Monday. Don't you know that my subscription copy arrived in the mail on Tuesday????

SO.......... who out there does NOT have a copy and wants to save a trip to the store? It's the February issue with tons of Valentine goodies. I'll give my extra copy to a random winner on Sunday, January 27 after DS goes to bed. Just leave me a comment on this post and tell me the title of your favorite book.

My favorite book of all time is The Great Gatsby, although my favorite contemporary book is Love Walked In, by Marisa de los Santos. I just read a pre-pub of the sequel and it is GREAT!

I Feel the Need to Spread Some Cheer

ETA: I have moved this so that it stays at the top until the drawing is done.

After going to the ER for stitches on Saturday night, DS woke up in the middle of the night Sunday night with his first stomach virus. He was sick all night long, and just wanted to sleep, but as he started to drift off, he had to run to the bathroom again. Poor little thing curled up on the bathroom rug at one point so he could rest! It took until yesterday afternoon for him to get over it, and he watched more tv in the last two days than he as in his 4-year life! But today he is back at preschool - he couldn't miss Show and Tell!

Meanwhile, I got the Christmas cards mailed, teacher gifts made, and treats passed out to co-workers. All I have to do before guests arrive is clean the house and wrap gifts.

So let's have a Blog Candy giveaway, shall we? Goodies are yet to be determined. I will try to gather them up over the next few days and post a photo. But as I promised - no leftover Christmas supplies and no re-gifting!

Here's a Picture of the Blog Candy

I realize that I forgot to state when this candy will be given away! Produced With Blog Candy Winnings

One of the blog candy giveaways I won was from Julie at Out to Impress. She asked that I send her the creations I made. First, here are the goodies: pretty Christmas ribbon, fun stamps and cute dp!

Here are some creations I have made so far. The papers are really fun patterns and I will use them all up soon as I finish my Christmas cards! Thanks, Julie!

First is a 4x4 card. I punched the presents out of the label from the paper package using my concave square punch. Then I made the layered tag and stamped the sentiment, attaching them together with a gold brad.

Next is a standard 4.25 x5.5 card. I layered the green on top of the red, then punched the giga scalloped circle out of the striped paper so the green showed through. I was able to punch out the image and follow the scalloped edge by VERY carefully lining them up in my small rounded corner punch. The image (stamped with Baroque Burgundy) is layered on a slightly larger white circle so that it stands out. The ribbon is from my stash, tied in a simple knot and adhered.
The final item here is a cute little tea bag holder. The sentiment is embossed with Detail White and I used a white gel pen to dot each scallop. The inside also has the striped paper. Too cute for co-worker treats!
Ok, off to stamp some more. Today's project is nugget boxes, and more tea bag holders since I want to RAK a co-worker for each day from now through Christmas. Luckily, there are only about 30 people in my workplace! Thanks for looking!

Bookwormabella! Yippee! Cindy sent her to me out of the blue. How sweet is that? I can't wait to ink her up! Maybe tomorrow when I don't have errands to run and can spend the day playing in my stamp room :) Thank you!!

My Lucky Streak

Well, the last week has been a blog candy lucky streak for me! I feel piggish, but it's so much fun! Here are some things I've won...

First is from Denise over at Paper Ponderings. She had a contest in which you had to guess the Halloween costumes of her kids. I was the only one to get them all correct! Denise sent some fun winter stamps, great vellum snowflakes, fun dp and a packet of ribbons that I already put away before snapping the picture.

Then I received a set of Kitchen Sink Stamps, Playful Christmas, from Becky. She has some great tutorials for 3x3 and 4x4 cards and boxes that she posted this week. Check out her blog!

And then I got an altered notebook from Rosanne. I am hoping this will keep me organized with Christmas gifts, card lists, etc.

Blog Candy Win and Swap Card

Here are the great Goodies that Lisa gave away: MS twill tape in taupe and chocolate colors, 2 Thank You stamps and white MS glitter. I was thrilled to receive these in the mail today and will play with them tomorrow evening!

Also in today's mail was one of the swap cards from The Stampin' Soldier blog organized by Laura. I have other to post too, but need the right light to photograph them all. The days are getting shorter and I leave before full daylight and get home after dusk these days! But this card from Sandy is amazing. We could send a card to celebrate any holiday, and she chose Elephant Appreciation Day. I love this card, Sandy! She even stamped on the inside.

I have been working on Sketch 2 for the 31 days of Angelosity but have not had much time to stamp this week. We've been packing up the kitchen. There has not been much stamping going on here since I realized it is the last weekend that I have a kitchen before the renovation begins. So I had to deal with the last of the summer tomatoes and get some meals in the freezer for the next several weeks. I already can't wait for it to be over!
